Vegetarian Shaurma


There are a lot of pluses in being vegetarian and only one minus: if you`re a beginner, you may think that there are less interesting recipes suitable for your new ration. Still, it isn`t true. First, there are several types of vegetarian denomination. If you are not a vegan, you may eat dairy products and eggs as well. In this case, you have bigger variety of recipes. One interesting idea for your lunch or dinner is vegetarian shaurma. I like to cook it in summer as there are a lot of vegetables in this warm season. I prefer to use cabbage, tomatoes and cucumbers as a filling. One more secret ingredient is fried Adige cheese. As for the sauce, I recommend you to mix garlic and sour cream. It is very tasty.
If you don`t have Adige cheese, you may replace it with goat cheese. However, I recommend you not to do it as Adige cheese doesn`t melt or stick to the bottom of the frying pan. It`s frequently used in vegetarian recipes.

  1. First, cook the sauce. Mash garlic and mix it with sour cream.
  2. Add salt, sugar and mix everything. Your sauce is ready.
  3. Cook the filling. Chop cabbage.
  4. Wash cucumbers and cut them into long strips.
  5. Cut tomato into thin slices.
  6. Cut Adige cheese. The slices shouldn`t be too thin. Otherwise, it will be difficult to fry them.
  7. Tale a plate and fill it with curry. Roll cheese in it.
  8. Fry cheese from both sides on the pan, lubricated with vegetable oil. Cook it on the small fire.
  9. When it`s ready, put cheese into the plate.
  10. Cut each tortilla into two slices. Lubricate one part of tortilla with 1 teaspoon of the sauce. Be careful with the filling. If you add too much vegetables it will be difficult to wrap shaurma.
  11. Divide all the cabbage into 4 parts. Put it on the top of each tortilla.
  12. The next layer is fried cheese.
  13. Then add cucumbers and tomatoes.
  14. Pour 1 teaspoon of the sauce on it.
