  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lubricate a baking pan with oil.
  2. Take a saucepan and melt butter in it. Cut onion into thin half-rings and add it into the saucepan. Cook everything for 2 minutes until the onion is soft.
  3. Add flour, pepper and salt. Stir everything carefully.
  4. Remove the heat. Add milk and simmer everything for 2 more minutes.
  5. Peel and cut the potatoes into thin slices. Slice ham. Mix these ingredients and put into a baking pan.
  6. Add creamy sauce on top of the potato mass.
  7. Cover the pan with the tinfoil. Bake your casserole for 30 minutes. Take the pan out of the oven. Get rid of the foil and continue cooking the potato until it is soft and golden.

 Take the pan off the heat and leave it for 10 minutes to cool down.

 If you want your scalloped potatoes and ham casserole to have a richer flavor, caramelize onions. Cook it for a minute longer and add a pinch of sugar. It will change the taste of the whole dish. You can also improve the taste of the dinner by adding a layer of grated cheese 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
