Hungarian Goulash. Rich Eastern Dish with Beef


Hungarian goulash is something in the middle between yummy stew and rich soup. Likewise most of Eastern meals, this one is best eaten in the cold autumn or winter day.   1. Find a big pan with the thick bottom. Pour vegetable oil into it. Add chopped onion into the pan. Cook it for 2-3 minutes and leave it to cool down. Now it`s the right time to add dry red paprika. Leave these ingredients for several minutes.
  2. Preheat the frying pan with the small amount of the vegetable oil. Cook beef in it. You need to fry it, not to stew, so do not cover the pan with the lid.
  3. Put this meat into the pot with the fried onion. Add chopped garlic and thyme. Pour water or broth into the pan as well. Mix all these ingredients slowly. Stew it for 2-2.5 hours. If you need, add more liquid.
  4. Wash potatoes. Peel the vegetables and cut them into cubes. Add potato into the pot. Cook everything for 5 more minutes and add salt.
  5. Wash and peel red bell pepper and carrot. Cut the vegetables into the slices as well. Add them into the pan together with the tomato sauce.
  6. Boil this rich soup. Slow down the fire, cover the pan with the lid and cook your dish for 15 minutes.
  7. Then turn off the fire and leave the dish for 15 minutes. In this case the taste of this stew will be richer.

You`re done. Pour this soup into the bowls and serve with the slices of the homemade bread. Bon Appetite.
