How to Make Poached Eggs for a Perfect Breakfast

  1. Choose high-quality eggs. They should be very fresh. Most of you probably do not have a chicken coop nearby. It's not a problem - there are several ways to check whether an egg is fresh or not. The easiest way is to fill a bowl with cold water and put the egg into it. If it lies on the bottom, the egg is fresh, and you can use it for poaching eggs. Bad egg will float on the surface or "stand" upright in the bowl.
  2. Now, when you're sure that you've chosen the best ingredients for making a perfectly poached egg, you should crack the egg into a bowl. Do not skip this step if you don't want the egg whites to be ruined.
  3. Add several drops of vinegar into the container. This should be done to ensure that the whites set almost immediately, while the yolks need time to separate. When you add vinegar, you can rest assured that there a nice "bag" will form with the yolk inside.
  4. Fill the pan with water. Slowly stir it.
  5. Put the raw egg into the middle of the whirlpool. Cook it on a low heat for 3-4 minutes. In the end, add salt into the pan. If you're not in a hurry, you can poach the egg for two minutes, turn off the stove and leave it in hot water for ten more minutes.
  6. Use a large slotted spoon to take the egg out of the water. Put it on the paper towel.
