Homemade BBQ Sauce


Grilled meat taste better when served with spicy BBQ sauce. You should try to cook it at home. It may seem to be difficult, but you should try it.

  1. To begin with I recommend you not to change to any ingredient in this list. Worcestershire sauce has unique flavor, and the only thing you can use instead is soy sauce or balsamic vinegar. As for the maple syrup, you can replace it with honey. Though you`ll use the sweeter, mustard must be sweet as well. I recommend you to use Dijon or sweet French mustard. To make this sauce thicker, use fresh tomatoes or tomato paste. If you do not have cane sugar, you may replace it with classical white one. Finally, don`t forget to add spicy zest to your dish, using Chili or Tabasco sauce.
  2. Now let`s get down to cooking. First, peel onion and garlic and chop them.
  3. Put the pot or pan on the fire and add oil.
  4. Add garlic and onion into the preheated oil. Fry everything for 3-5 minutes.
  5. If you`re going to use tomato paste, you`ll need to mix it with water. In case with fresh tomatoes, they`re juicy enough, so you do not need to add water.
  6. Add honey, Worcestershire sauce and salt to taste. Mix everything carefully and boil for 7-10 minutes.
  7. Then you need to add vinegar, mustard and pepper. Mix everything one more time.
  8. Cook it for 20-25 minutes until the dish is thick enough.
  9. When it`s ready, mash it, using a blender.
  10. Pour this smooth mass into the container or a pot. For there not to be ugly crust when the sauce cools down, add a bit of oil.

If you want to use this sauce later, pour it into the jars and cover them with the lid. Put these jars into the fridge. Now you have enough sauce for all your picnics.
