Baked ham is one of the best meat delicacies. It can be made of any type of meat and poultry. However, if you want to cook traditional dish, I recommend you to choose pork.

Instructions:
  1. Fill the ham hock with the slices of carrot, garlic and lard. Rub it with the salt. Peel onion and cut it into thin rings. Put them on the top and the edges of the pork and cover meat with the plastic wrap.
  2. Put meat into the fridge for 3 days. If you have enough time, wait for 4 or even 5 days for the dish to be more fragrant and juicy.
  3. Then you need to take meat out of the fridge and wait for several hours. Unwrap it and get rid of the onion. Cover the form with butter and put meat into it. Cover it with the tinfoil and put the form into the oven, preheated to 428 F. Cook it for 1-2 hours.
  4. In 1.5 hours you need to take the form out of the oven and get rid of the tinfoil. Cover the top of the meat with the plum jam and continue baking.

If you`re planning to cook baked ham, I recommend you to start the process beforehand. You`ll need 2-3 days to make perfect meat dish. Another important thing is that you need to choose a nice piece of meat. It should be fresh, as defrosted meat doesn`t have that gorgeous fragrant and soft texture. The piece of meat should be big. You may use any part of flesh. There should be the layer of fat for the ham to be juicy.
