Instructions:
  1. Take a baking dish and sprinkle it with olive oil or melted butter. Cut bread into thin slices. Chop each slice into cubes. Do not get rid of the leftover crumbs. They will make the texture of the french toast casserole crunchy. Cover the bottom of the dish with ½ of the bread cubes.
  2. Take a mid-sized bowl and whip the cream cheese until it’s smooth. Add sugar and vanilla. Continue cooking this mass until it’s very tender and white.
  3. Mix this cream cheese with the leftovers of the bread cubes.
  4. Take another bowl and whisk eggs with milk, brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in it. Pour everything over the bread in the baking dish. Add a layer of bread with cream cheese.
  5. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap. Leave it in the fridge overnight. If you don't want to wait for a long time, leave it for 3-4 hours.
  6. When you’re ready to continue cooking, preheat the oven to 350 F. Whisk sugar with flour, cinnamon and cubes of cold butter. Cover the dish with this topping.
  7. Put the baking dish with the would-be-casserole into the oven. Bake everything for 50 minutes. If you want your easy French toast casserole to be softer, cook it for 40-45 minutes.
