Delicious and Juicy Turkey

There are a lot of ways to cook juicy and tender turkey. Today we’ll share with you the secrets of cooking poultry and serving it with the best sauce.

Turkey is often cooked for Thanksgiving parties. As this is an old tradition, all cooks try to experiment with the turkey stuffing to create something new. In France, this poultry is served with white wine, in Britain and USA with cranberry sauce. Today we’ll look at a recipe for crunchy turkey with orange sauce.

Turkey is healthy, yummy and low in cholesterol. Poultry is much healthier than pork or beef. That’s why doctors recommend eating it from time to time, in order not to have problems with blood pressure and the nervous system. Even kids and pregnant woman can eat the same amount of this meat as most of adults do.

To cook a perfect meal, you need to know how to choose and prepare it. While choosing a turkey, pay attention to the colour and fragrance of the meat. It should be good-looking and not too skinny. The colour of the skin can be creamy or light. If you buy fresh poultry, do it no earlier than 2 days before cooking. Frozen turkey can be stored in the freezer for several weeks.

When you get down to cooking, I recommend you tie the legs and wings. Fix the turkey for it to look good after cooking. It’s also a good idea to cut off the breast keel bone. In this case it will be easier for you to cut baked turkey into pieces. Another useful recommendation is to cover the places which can burn using tinfoil.

The time needed to cook to the turkey depends both on your oven and the size of the turkey. Now that you know some helpful tips, let’s look at how you can improve the taste. Of course, we’re talking about turkey dressing and turkey stuffing recipes. One of the most popular are: bread, thin slices of potato, prunes, mushrooms, sweet potato, buckwheat, rice, minced pork, apples and a mixture of various other vegetables. If there are leftovers of the stuffing, you can put them on the tray near the turkey. We also recommend you add herbs, slices of onion, garlic and lemon. This way the dish will be more fragrant and very soft. Turkey should definitely be baked with herbs, citrus and spiced vegetables. As for the mayonnaise, oil or sour cream, they shouldn’t be used to cover the skin. If you do this, the turkey will be crunchy, but raw inside.

Now let’s look at this interesting recipe for juicy turkey that you can cook for your next dinner party or family meal.

  5. Bake your meal for 4-6 hours. The time of cooking depends on the size of your turkey. I recommend you bake it at 356-392 F. In 3 hours you can open the door of the oven and check whether the poultry is soft.
  6. Continue cooking until the dish is ready!

Here are several more secrets that may be helpful for you.

  • For the turkey to be juicier, cover it with the leftovers of the juice each hour. If you think the turkey is too skinny and lean, cook rich chicken bouillon beforehand and cover the poultry with it regularly. In this way you’ll make your meal fatter and will get a nice crunchy crust in the process.
  • Checking whether the meal is ready is very easy, all you need is to poke the turkey with a fork or a knife. The meat should be very soft and the juice – light. Take the turkey out of the oven and leave it for several minutes. It’s recommended to cover the turkey with tinfoil and leave it for half an hour. The taste will not be spoiled but it will be much easier for you to cut the tender meat.
  • Finally, let’s decide which sauce you can choose to serve the turkey with. Cooks recommend using light sauces with berries or fruits. Nevertheless, the taste and fragrance of the sauce shouldn’t be too strong. The most popular sauces are made of blueberries, cranberries and other popular berries. We also like the mixture of orange juice, cranberries, cinnamon and brandy. If you like, you can enrich the taste with some sugar and grated ginger.
