Cold Russian Soup “Okroshka”


For a long time beer is famous all over the world. It has different tastes depending on the place, where it was made. It may be either soft and fragrant or bitter and heady. Though it`s an alcohol drink, beer is very healthy. It`s rich in sugar, dextran, carbonic, lactic, amber, phosphoric acids, sodium, potassium and magnesium.
Small amount of beer helps to relax, removes physical and mental pressure. It also helps to ease digestion and lowers the level of hunger. If you`re weak or anemic, drink a little bit beer regularly. Still, if you`ll drink too much alcohol, you may gain some extra weight. What`s more, beer-lovers have heavier hangover than those, who prefer wine. Therefore, you need to control the amount of alcohol you drink.
It may also be used while cooking different dishes. Cooks use it to marinate and stew meat, cook yummy pastry or even cold soups.

  1. Boil potato. If the skin is too thick, you may peel it beforehand. Strain the water and leave potato to cool down.
  2. Cook hard-boiled eggs. You need to boil them for about 12 minutes. When eggs are ready, put them into the bowl with cold water and leave to cool down. Peel eggs and cut into small cubes.
  3. Wash cucumbers and cut them into cubes as well. If the peel is bitter, cut it off.
  4. Cut sausage into cubes.
  5. Grate the radish.
  6. Chop greens.
  7. Put all the ingredients into the pan. Add salt. Mix everything well.
  8. Put the pan into the fridge and leave it to cool down.
  9. Fill bowls with the portion of dry ingredients. Pour beer into each bowl. For there not to be froth, pour it slowly. Mix everything one more time. If you need, add more salt. And don`t forget to add sour-cream.
