Breaded Chicken Steak


Juicy chicken fried steak is also famous as country fried steak. Nowadays this dish is considered to be tradition American meal. However, it was originated in German and brought to the USA by Austrian and German immigrants. Since 19th century, it is popular in most of the states.

  1. For cooking this recipe, you need to prepare boneless and skinless chicken breasts. Wash them and dry. Cut each one lengthwise.
  2. Now put them on your working place. Cover everything with plastic wrap and tenderize. Do not pound it too hard not to spoil the form of the fillet. Repeat the same process with all the parts of the fillets.
  3. Now it`s time to season your dish. Mix onion powder, garlic powder salt and black pepper. Use these dry ingredients to rub the surface of the poultry. Now you need to use only a half of the spicy mass. Safe the recipe, as you`ll need to use it later.
  4. Prepare the tray, covering it with the tinfoil or a parchment.
  5. Fill one bowl with breadcrumbs and another one with the flour. Whisk 2 eggs carefully and add them to the third bowl.
  6. Now you`ll need to coat each fillet. Dip it into the bowl with the flour first. Shake it slightly to get rid of the flour. Dip it into the bowl with whisked eggs and then immediately cover it with breadcrumbs.
  7. When each fillet is well covered, you can get down to cooking it.
  8. Fry them in the preheated frying pan with the oil. Cook each fillet from both sides for 3-5 minutes. When it has this crispy “coat” and is juicy enough, you can put the cutlet on the plate, covered with paper towel to get rid of the extra oil.

 Traditionally this country chicken steak is served with mashed or roasted potatoes. However, you can choose some more interesting way to serve this dish. Here are several ideas for you:

  •         Choose your favorite fresh salad to make your meal brighter. Mix cucumbers with tomatoes and dill and sprinkle everything with olive oil or avocado oil.
