Baked Ham


It`s difficult to find someone, who doesn`t like baked ham. Big piece of meat, cooked together with herbs and garlic will amuse both kids and adults. By the way, if you do everything right, such a dish may become a part of your festive meal. If you try to eat only healthy food, baked ham may replace sausages in your ration. Finally, this recipe is very easy. All you need to do is to follow my instructions. In this case, your baked ham will look as good as mine!

  1. First, you need to buy fresh meat. I recommend you to choose tender lean pork. There shouldn`t be bones. If you chose nice meat, you`ll be able to cook delicious baked ham.
  2. Wash meat and leave it to dry.
  3. Pork is always fat, even if you try to choose meat without lard. Therefore, now you need to get rid of extra fat. Don`t work for too long. As you`re going to cook pork in the oven, you`ll need some fat for the dish not to burn.
  4. Peel garlic. If the cloves are too big, cut them. It will be more comfortable for you to use them for stuffing pork in such a way.
  5. Use a sharp knife to cut meat in several places. You need to make several small holes. Fill these holes with garlic cloves. You may use more or less garlic.
  6. Rub piece of meat with salt. I recommend you to use rock salt. Other types of salt aren`t that great.
  7. Then use herb mix. You may buy it or simply mix your favorite herbs in the bowl.
  8. Cover meat with these herbs. If you like spicy food, add pepper.
  9. Put meat into the fridge for 2-3 hours. It`s important for the meat to be well marinated.
  10. Take an oven bag and put your meat into it. Cover it with bay leaves from all sides. Fix the edges of the oven bag.
  11. Find a tray and put this big piece of meat into it. Put the tray into the oven preheated to 356 degrees. You may change the temperature, if your dish seems to be cooking too fast.
  12. Bake this dish for an hour. If you want your meat to have yummy crust, wait for 45 minutes, take the tray out of the oven, open the bag and continue cooking your ham for 15 minutes more.
  13. Check, whether the dish is ready. Stick your meat with a toothpick or a fork. If the juice appears, you may take baked ham out of the oven. Keep in mind that if you cook meat for too long, it will be dry at the end.
  14. So, don`t wait. Take ham out of the pack and leave it to cool down. This meat is very tasty and fragrant. So, be careful, you family members may eat it in a minute!
  15. When meat is cool, cover it with the tinfoil and put into the fridge.
  16. Baked ham should be eaten cold. Slice it before serving and put into the plate.
  17. It`s important not to slice meat while it`s hot. It will spoil the color and structure of the ham.
