Apple Shortcake

  1. Cut cold butter into cubes and put them into the bowl.
  2. Add sugar and mix this mass using a blender. Add yolk and continue whipping.
  3. Sift the flour and add it to this smooth mass. Turn the dough into crumbs.
  4. Add 2-3 tbsp of cold milk or water. Make soft and elastic dough.
  5. Cover it with the plastic wrap and put into the fridge for 40-50 minutes.
  6. Wash apples, peel them and cut into slices.
  7. Put these slices into the bowl and sprinkle with the lemon juice for them not to change their color.
  8. Mix starch, cinnamon and sugar. Dust your apples with this dry mixture. Mix everything well and leave for 15-20 minutes.
  9. Take the dough out of the fridge and divide it into 2 parts. One of them should be bigger.
  10. Roll this bigger part and put into the baking form, covered with the paper. Form the edges.
  11. Fill this layer with the apple stuffing.
  12. Roll the second part of the dough and cover the pie with it. Stick the edges.
  13. Mix egg yolk with milk and lubricate the cake with this liquid. Dust it with the sugar.
  14. Bake this cake in the oven preheated to 356 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
  15. Cut it into pieces.
